The Avant Garde Digital Media team had so much fun sponsoring a child for the 30th Annual Darrell Green Youth Life Foundation's "Christmas with the Redskins" event. Green is a former Washington Redskins cornerback who played from 1983 to 2002. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest cornerbacks to have ever played in the National Football League (NFL). He's currently the Redskins' all-time leader with 54 interceptions, while no other Redskins has corralled more than 36 interceptions. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2008 and just recently on December 6, 2019, Green was named to the NFL 100 All-Time Team.
With so much to celebrate this holiday season, Green and his wife Jewell also find time to give back through serving children throughout the Washington, DC metro area for more than 30 years.
This year, the foundation served more than 200 children from local elementary and middle schools. There was a meet and greet with the Redskins players, delicious food, an overflow of gifts, game stations and loads of FUN for the children! The highlight of the night was a handwritten "thank you" card from our sponsored child, Ava, a talented 10-year-old who aspires to be a professional singer one day.
